Pipe Relining In The Hills District

Sydney’s No Dig Pipe Relining Experts

Pipe relining repairs a broken, cracked or root-affected drain by inserting a resin-saturated liner inside the existing pipe and curing it in place, creating a new pipe within the old one without digging. It costs more upfront than a one-off drain clear, but it’s a permanent structural repair rather than a temporary fix.

What Affects Pipe Relining Cost

Pipe relining cost depends on pipe size and length, the method used, how many junctions need reinstating, access to the pipe, and the condition of the existing pipe. Each of these is explained below, and if you’d like actual price ranges rather than just the factors, we’ve broken down what pipe relining costs in Sydney in a separate guide.

  • Pipe Size and Length: Wider pipes and longer runs need more liner and more time. Pricing is generally calculated per metre once we know the diameter.
  • Method Used: Inversion relining suits longer continuous runs and is installed by pulling a resin liner through with an inversion drum. Drag-in relining works well over shorter runs where both ends of the pipe are accessible. Patch relining targets one or two damaged sections rather than the whole run, and is priced per patch rather than per metre.
  • Junctions: Where a liner crosses a branch line, that junction has to be cut out and reinstated. If tree roots have gotten into the junction, a patch has to be installed there too. This isn’t optional. It’s what the Australian Standard requires, and skipping it is exactly how a relined drain ends up blocked by roots again within a year.
  • Access and Location: A pipe running under a driveway, a pool, a heritage tree or a retaining wall is harder to reach than one running under open lawn. Jobs in tight access points, basements or multi-storey buildings take longer and need more equipment on site.
  • Condition of the Existing Pipe: A pipe full of roots or silt needs to be jetted clean before it can be relined. A pipe that’s already collapsed can’t be relined at all and needs to be dug up and replaced.

We camera the drain first with a CCTV inspection before quoting, so the price reflects what’s actually happening in your pipe rather than a guess.

We just moved into our new home and walked in to find 2 leaks coming from the downstairs bathroom ceiling. We called The Plumbing Paramedics and they sent Kyle over. He was friendly and a good communicator. He was thorough when seeking to find the leak. He was able to locate the issue in a damaged upstairs toilet by performing a leak detection test. He removed the damaged toilet and installed a new one for us. If you want an efficient plumbing service and clear communication from office staff, call The Plumbing Paramedics.

We recently experienced a plumbing emergency with water leaking from our ceiling and called Plumbing Paramedics for help. Kyle and Josh arrived promptly and quickly identified the source as a burst pipe. They were professional and knowledgeable throughout, taking the time to clearly explain the issue before proceeding, and completed the repair along with installing a new pressure valve in under 90 minutes. As a family with young children, we greatly appreciated their efficiency and the peace of mind their work provided. We highly recommend them and will use them again!

When Relining Is the Right Fix (and When It Isn’t)

Relining is the better option when the damaged pipe sits under something you don’t want disturbed: a driveway, a patio, a pool, a heritage tree, a retaining wall, or your own bathroom floor.
Digging up and replacing the pipe can work out cheaper when it runs under open lawn, in good soil, without large trees nearby. We’ll tell you which situation you’re in rather than defaulting to the bigger job.
Relining is also the better call when the work needs to happen fast with minimal disruption, which matters if you’re running a household around young kids, or a strata property where digging up common areas means a much longer approvals process.

Our Pipe Relining Process

  1. CCTV Drain Inspection: We run a camera through the pipe first to find the fault, measure the length affected, and confirm relining is actually the right repair.
  2. High-Pressure Water Jetting: The pipe is cleaned of roots, scale and blockages so the liner bonds properly to a clean surface.
  3. Liner Installation: A resin-saturated liner is inserted and positioned within the damaged section using the method suited to your pipe.
  4. Curing: The liner is cured with hot water or UV light until it hardens into a new pipe wall within the old one.
  5. Junction Reinstatement: Any junctions the liner has crossed are cut out and reconnected, with a patch installed over any junction affected by tree roots.
  6. Final CCTV Inspection: We run the camera through again so you can see the finished result yourself, not just take our word for it.

Questions Worth Asking Before You Accept a Quote

Before accepting a pipe relining quote, ask whether tree roots are present around any junctions and whether junction patches are included in the price, whether branch lines off the main pipe are also affected, and what warranty applies to the relined sections in writing. Some quotes only cover the main run and leave affected branch lines to fail later, and a plumber confident in their work will answer all three without hesitation.
