Fire Hose Reel & Hydrant Connection Plumbing in Sydney

We are on call for all commercial plumbing work. We’re available 24/7 for emergencies.

Licensed Fire Hose Reel Plumbing for Commercial and Strata Buildings

If your building has been flagged after a fire safety inspection and you need the plumbing work sorted, The Plumbing Paramedics handles licensed fire hose reel installations, replacements, and hydrant connections for strata complexes, commercial buildings, and industrial sites across the Hills District and Blacktown Council areas.

We work alongside your fire protection contractor to get rectification work completed and documented, and once the system is in, we can stay on as your plumbing contact for ongoing compliance work that comes out of annual inspections.

What We Handle — and What We Don’t

Our scope covers the licensed plumbing work that feeds and connects fire hose reel systems:

  • New fire hose reel installations — pipework, connections, and reel mounting
  • Replacement of ageing or failed reels and associated plumbing
  • Fire hydrant booster connections and main riser pipework
  • Pressure testing and flow verification on the water supply side
  • Rectification work flagged after a building inspection or Annual Fire Safety Statement process
  • Ongoing plumbing maintenance and rectification to support annual compliance inspections

We don’t do fire sprinkler systems, fire extinguisher servicing, or Annual Fire Safety Statement certification, that sits with a licensed fire protection contractor.

What we provide is the licensed plumbing work that connects and feeds the system, carried out to the standard your certifier and fire safety inspector require.

What Sydney Locals Say About Us

Buildings We Work On

Fire hose reel plumbing comes up across a wide range of building types in the Hills District and Blacktown areas:

  • Strata residential complexes — older walk-ups and low-rise buildings from the 1980s and 1990s in Baulkham Hills, Kings Langley, Blacktown, Seven Hills, Toongabbie, and Winston Hills, where original reels and pipework are hitting the end of their serviceable life
  • Commercial office buildings — particularly multi-tenancy buildings in Norwest Business Park, Castle Hill, and the Blacktown CBD where Annual Fire Safety Statement inspections regularly flag plumbing rectification requirements
  • Industrial and warehouse facilities — manufacturing plants, logistics facilities, and storage warehouses across Blacktown, Arndell Park, Kings Park, and Wetherill Park industrial precincts
  • Mixed-use and retail developments — new builds and existing tenancies where change of use or subdivision triggers updated coverage requirements under the NCC
  • Institutional buildings — schools, childcare centres, medical facilities, and aged care premises where fire safety compliance is subject to additional scrutiny
  • New commercial builds — Class 5, 6, 7, and 8 buildings requiring fire hose reel systems under the NCC, where our role is to install pipework and connections to the hydraulic engineer’s specification

For Strata Managers and Owners Corporations

A significant portion of our fire hose reel work comes from strata properties. The Hills District and Blacktown area has a large number of strata complexes built through the 1980s and 1990s where original reels and pipework are now reaching the end of their serviceable life. The Annual Fire Safety Statement process flags them. Your fire safety inspector documents the defect. Then the licensed plumbing rectification has to happen before compliance sign-off can proceed.

For strata work, we provide the scope of works documentation your strata committee needs, along with a written quote suitable for committee approval. We understand the approval process takes time.pliance, The Plumbing Paramedics have your back. We’ll take care of sizing, approvals, installation and maintenance — so you can focus on running your kitchen.

Keeping Your Building Compliant Year to Year

The Annual Fire Safety Statement process doesn’t just apply at installation, building owners must certify fire safety measures every year. For the plumbing side of fire hose reel systems, that means the water supply, pipework, and connections need to remain in serviceable condition and continue to meet flow and pressure requirements.

Rather than scrambling to find a plumber each time an inspection flags something, having us on record as your building’s plumbing contact means rectification work gets turned around quickly and documented properly.

We can provide:

  • Plumbing inspection and flow verification to support annual compliance checks
  • Prompt rectification of defects flagged by your fire safety inspector
  • Written scope of works and compliance documentation for strata committees, building owners, and certifiers
  • Service records suitable for AFSS submissions and insurance requirements

Frequently Asked Fire Hose + Hydrant Questions

Yes. Under the NSW Plumbing and Drainage Act 2011, any work involving water supply pipework connected to a fire hose reel system must be carried out by a licensed plumber. This includes new installations, replacement of ageing pipework and reels, hydrant booster connections, and rectification work flagged after a building inspection. The equipment itself may be handled by a fire protection contractor, but the plumbing connection and supply side is licensed plumbing work.

Your fire safety inspector documents the defect as part of the AFSS process. A licensed plumber then needs to carry out the plumbing rectification — this might be replacing a failed reel, repairing or replacing supply pipework, or rectifying a hydrant booster connection. Once the plumbing work is complete and compliance documentation is provided, your fire protection contractor can complete the certification and the AFSS can be submitted. The sticking point is usually getting both trades coordinated and on site promptly. We manage this regularly for strata and commercial buildings across the Hills District and Blacktown areas.

We carry out a site visit to assess the existing pipework, reel condition, and connection points, then provide a written quote with a scope of works document suitable for committee review and approval. We understand strata approval takes time and we won’t chase you every few days. Once approved, we co-ordinate with your fire protection contractor to get both trades on site efficiently. We work with strata managers and owners corporations across Baulkham Hills, Kings Langley, Blacktown, Seven Hills, and surrounding suburbs.

AS 2441:2007 — Installation of Fire Hose Reels — is the primary standard. It specifies coverage areas, pressure and flow requirements, reel placement, connection standards, and commissioning requirements. The National Construction Code sets out performance requirements for fire hose reel systems in Class 2–9 buildings, and the Annual Fire Safety Statement framework under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 requires building owners to certify compliance annually. All plumbing work connecting to the system must meet the NSW Plumbing and Drainage Act 2011.

Yes — and it’s worth setting up. Annual Fire Safety Statement inspections regularly flag plumbing defects on fire hose reel systems, particularly in older strata and commercial buildings. Having a licensed plumber already familiar with your building’s pipework configuration means rectification work gets turned around quickly, documented properly, and doesn’t hold up your AFSS submission. We carry out both initial installation and ongoing rectification work for commercial and strata buildings across the Hills District and Blacktown Council areas.
