New Gas Line Installation for Homes and Businesses
You need a new gas line when you add a gas appliance and there is no gas supply at that spot, or when the existing line is too small to run everything you want to connect. We plan the route from the meter or the cylinders to the new appliance, size the line so it can supply the appliances connected to it, install it and pressure test it.
We install new gas lines for:
- Kitchen renovations, when a cooktop or oven moves to a new position
- Gas hot water systems, including continuous flow and storage units

NSW Government guidance says all gas appliances must be tested, certified and labelled before they can be sold and installed in NSW, and that gas fitters may only install certified appliances and products.
Before you buy a gas appliance, check whether your home runs on natural gas or LPG. NSW Government guidance recommends knowing which type of gas supply your home uses before you buy, because the appliance has to suit that gas type. If you are not sure, send us a photo of your gas meter or cylinders and we will tell you what you have.
Gas Bayonet Points for Heaters and BBQs
A gas bayonet is a wall or floor socket that lets you plug in a portable gas appliance and unplug it when you are finished. A common setup is an indoor bayonet for a gas space heater in winter and an outdoor bayonet for the BBQ. We install bayonet points for:
- Gas space heaters in living rooms, offices and workshops
- Outdoor BBQs and alfresco kitchens
- Patio heaters
We fit the bayonet, connect it to your gas line and test it before we leave, so you can plug the appliance in and use it straight away.
Gas Line Upgrades and Replacing Old Gas Pipework
Older gas lines in homes that have been renovated a few times are often undersized for the appliances now running on them, or have been extended in ways that are hard to follow. Signs that your gas line may need an upgrade include:
- A cooktop or hot water system that runs poorly when another gas appliance is on
- Old pipework with visible corrosion
- Plans to add a new appliance to a line that already runs several
- A smell of gas near the pipework or the meter
We inspect the existing line, explain what we find and recommend an upgrade or a replacement for the section that needs it.

Your Gas Compliance Certificate
NSW Government guidance says that after any work involving gas is complete, the licensed gas fitter must give you a certificate of compliance for network gas, or a certificate of inspection for bottled gas. The certificate confirms that a licensed gas fitter completed the work and that the work complies with the relevant industry standards, and it must include the licensee’s name and licence number. You receive the certificate for the gas work we carry out. Keep it with your house records, because your insurer, a buyer or a certifier may ask for it. Check Your Gas Fitter’s Licence
NSW Government guidance says to always use a licensed gas fitter for any repair or renovation involving gas, including relocating or replacing a gas appliance, and to check that the person is licensed. You can check a gas fitter’s licence online through the NSW Government licence check or by calling 13 27 00. Our gas fitting contractor licence number is 310989C.
What to Do If You Smell Gas
NSW Government guidance says to treat any gas leak as a potential lethal risk. If you smell gas in your property:
- Leave the building immediately, call 000 and ask for NSW Fire and Rescue
- If it is safe to do so, turn off the gas at the meter or the cylinder
- Turn off all appliances, including electrical appliances, and pilot lights
- Open doors and windows for ventilation, only if it is safe to do so
- Put out any naked flames and cigarettes
- Contact a licensed gas fitter and your gas supplier, whose number is on your gas bill
