Licensed Gas Fitters | Legal & Certified Gas Work

Gas work is not optional when it comes to compliance.
Under NSW law, all gas installations, alterations or repairs must be certified by a licensed gas fitter.
At The Plumbing Paramedics, we issue valid Gas Compliance Certificates and Certificates of Inspection in accordance with NSW Fair Trading requirements.

Whether you’re connecting a new cooktop, installing a gas hot water system, or upgrading a gas line, our team ensures your gas system is tested, safe, and compliant with all legal obligations.

What Is a Gas Compliance Certificate?

A Gas Compliance Certificate (CoC) is an official document that confirms your gas system has been installed or modified in accordance with AS/NZS 5601.1, the national gas installation standard.

As per the Gas and Electricity (Consumer Safety) Regulation 2018 (Regulation 55), it must be issued within five business days of completing the work and submitted to the Department of Fair Trading.

The certificate is mandatory for:

  • All natural gas installations and alterations
  • All LPG installations (via Certificate of Inspection)
  • New appliance connections, line extensions, pressure changes or regulator upgrades

Never try to locate or fix a gas leak yourself. Even a small leak can lead to fire, explosion or serious health risks.

What Sydney Locals Say About Us

The Gas Compliance Plate

In addition to the certificate, we affix a Gas Compliance Plate at the installation site — typically near the appliance or gas meter. This plate contains critical data including:

  • Installer’s licence number
  • Date of completion
  • Appliance type and pressure settings
  • Certificate number for verification

The format of the plate must comply with NSW Fair Trading’s requirements under Regulation 55, ensuring traceability for future inspections.

When Is a Gas Compliance Certificate Required?

You need a certificate every time:

  • A new gas appliance is installed
  • A gas line is extended or altered
  • LPG is installed in a residential or commercial building
  • Appliances are relocated or upgraded
  • Gas supply pressure is changed

Without it, you may not be able to connect or reconnect your gas supply. Lack of certification can also void warranties, create insurance liability, and result in serious penalties under NSW law.

Why It Matters

A gas compliance certificate is not just a formality. It is legal protection for your home, your health, and your investment. Faulty or non-compliant gas installations carry serious risks:

  • Gas leaks
  • Carbon monoxide poisoning
  • Explosion or fire hazards
  • Insurance claim denial

Our gas fitters work to exacting standards under NSW Fair Trading, JAS-ANZ, and the Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG) framework. We guarantee complete legal compliance on every job.
